This is a classic Acoma Owl
figure, entirely made by hand in the traditional fashion by one
of Acoma's oldest living potters. Eva Histia is over 90 years
of age and still producing!
Eva Histia was born into the
Acoma pueblo on May 4, 1914. She was taught to work with clay
by her mother.
She continues to work with
traditional designs, and during her 80 years of pottery making
has won several awards for her creativity and longevity - including
ribbons from the New Mexico State Fair, and others.
Her favorite part of the work
is creating each new piece.
